Second Army Region Clarifies Incident of Injured Cambodian Troops at Chong An Ma

"Second Army Region" clarifies the issue "Cambodian troops" were injured at Chong An Ma area. Initial assessment of the knee wounds suggests they were unlikely caused by gunfire.


On 21 February 2026, the Facebook pageof the Second Army Regionposted a statement titled "Clarification on the incident at Chong An Ma area." It stated that according to the Cambodian side's report, on 20 February 2026 at 10:45 a.m., at Chong An Ma area, 5–7 gunshots were heard, and subsequently, one Cambodian soldier was found injured in the knee.

The Second Army Region thanked the Cambodian side for close coordination on this matter. Upon receiving the report, the responsible Thai unit immediately conducted a fact-finding investigation.

The investigation found that on 20 February 2026 at about 9:30 a.m., Thai units detected additional Cambodian forces moving closer to the Thai defensive line. The Thai side issued verbal warnings (shouting warnings) following incident control procedures, and no weapons were used. Thai personnel strictly adhered to rules of engagement and remain committed to peaceful problem resolution.

Preliminary medical observations suggest that the knee wounds were unlikely caused by gunfire. For transparency and mutual understanding, the Second Army Region urges both sides to strictly follow the General Border Committee (GBC) statements, especially maintaining forces within their respective controlled areas thereafter.

The ceasefire is essential to preserve peace, stability, and good relations along the Thai–Cambodian border sustainably.
