Farmer Husband, Mentally Ill and Jealous, Kills Wife with Knife in Cassava Field Before Taking His Own Life

A farmer husband suffering from mental illness and extreme jealousy stabbed his wife to death gruesomely in the middle of a cassava field before deciding to end his own life to escape blame. Tragically, food was found left untouched at the scene.

At 6:00 p.m. on 20 February 2026, Police Lieutenant Sitthisak Tasantiea, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Wang Nam Khiao Police Station, received a report of a tragic incident involving two deaths caused by stabbing at a cassava field near Ban Nong Krachong, Village No. 10, Rerng Subdistrict, Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. He informed Police Colonel Weerapol Rabiabpho, Chief of Wang Nam Khiao Police Station, before proceeding to the scene with Police Lieutenant Colonel Natthayan Juwiwat, Deputy Inspector (Investigation), investigators, forensic officials from the Crime Scene Investigation Division 3 Nakhon Ratchasima, and rescue volunteers from Huk 31 Wang Nam Khiao.

The scene was a remote agricultural area more than five kilometers from the main road, with rough terrain difficult for regular vehicles to access. Authorities used transport vehicles to bring personnel and lighting equipment. At the scene, they found the body of Mrs. Saipin Nimklang, 62, with severe stab wounds to the right side of her neck and left shoulder. Nearby was the body of Mr. Somporn Nimklang, 61, her husband, who had hanged himself not far from her. Also found were the deceased’s tractor and motorcycle parked nearby, along with a meal prepared but untouched.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Somporn had a long history of mental illness and was extremely jealous of his wife, often arguing with her. On the morning of the incident, he drove the tractor to work in the field, while Mrs. Saipin followed on a motorcycle to deliver food. It is believed they had a severe argument, causing Mr. Somporn to lose control, stab his wife to death, and then decide to end his own life to avoid punishment.

Police and forensic teams are collecting detailed evidence and will conduct autopsies on both bodies following legal procedures to confirm the exact causes of death. Afterwards, the bodies will be released to their relatives for religious rites and the case will be closed as a tragic farmer family incident.
