"Meteorological Department" issued the second announcement warning of "summer storms in upper Thailand" from 23–25 February, cautioning about thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind, and hail in some areas.
21 February 2026 GMT+7The Meteorological Department's websiteannounced regarding "summer storms in upper Thailand" effective from 23–25 February 2026, second announcement, stating that during this period, upper Thailand will experience summer storms starting with the northeast region. The north, central region, Bangkok including its metropolitan area, and the east will be affected next. There will be thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, heavy rain in some areas, and possible lightning in certain locations.
This is due to high pressure or a cold air mass from China moving to cover the northeast and the South China Sea, resulting in southerly and southeasterly winds over the northeast, central region, east, and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a westerly wind wave is passing through the north and northeast while upper Thailand experiences hot to very hot weather.
Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of summer storm dangers by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce their fruit trees and prepare to protect agricultural products and livestock from potential damage. People should also take care of their health during these weather changes.
Furthermore, the public is urged to follow updates from the Meteorological Department and can access information on the department's website http://www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
