The Meteorological Department issues its second warning. "Thunderstorm" In upper Thailand, starting with the Northeast region, areas are advised to monitor for thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and some heavy rainfall.
The Meteorological Department's website announced that thunderstorms will affect upper Thailand from 23-25 February 2026, in its second advisory.
It states that from 23–25 Feb 2026, upper Thailand will experience thunderstorms beginning in the Northeast. The North, Central region, Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as the East, will be affected next. Expect thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail, and some heavy rain, including possible lightning in certain areas. This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass moving from China covering the Northeast and the South China Sea.
This causes southerly and southeasterly winds over the Northeast, Central region, East, and the Gulf of Thailand, combined with westerly wind currents passing over the North and Northeast, while upper Thailand experiences hot to very hot weather.
People in these areas are advised to beware of dangers from thunderstorms by avoiding open spaces, sheltering away from large trees, weak structures, and advertising signs. Farmers should strengthen fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from possible damage, as well as take care of their health during this weather change.
