Warning for 60 Provinces to Monitor Summer Storms with Heavy Rain and Strong Winds from 23-25 Feb 2026

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a warning for 60 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central regions, and Bangkok to monitor thunderstorms and strong gusty winds from 23 to 25 February 2026.

On 22 February 2026, Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), stated that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC) has been monitoring weather conditions and risk factors. This follows the Meteorological Department's announcement of a summer storm in upper Thailand affecting 23 to 25 February 2026, bulletin number 1 (1/2569).

The bulletin explains that a high-pressure system or cold air mass from the People's Republic of China is moving to cover the Northeast region and the South China Sea. This causes southerly and southeasterly winds over the Northeast, Central, Eastern regions, and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a westerly wind wave is passing over the North and Northeast. Meanwhile, upper Thailand is experiencing hot to very hot conditions, leading to summer storms in some areas of the North, Northeast, Central regions, including Bangkok and its metropolitan area. These storms may include thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, heavy rain in some places, and lightning. The areas to watch for thunderstorms and strong winds from 23 to 25 February 2026 are divided as follows:

  • All provinces in the North region.
  • All provinces in the Northeast region.
  • All provinces in the Central region except Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces.
  • Bangkok Metropolitan Area.

The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC), under the DDPM, has coordinated to notify 60 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central regions, and Bangkok, as well as disaster prevention centers in risk areas, to remain vigilant and prepare for the disaster situation during this period. They are to closely monitor the weather and disaster trends, coordinate with local administrative organizations to inform residents in risk areas in advance, and prepare disaster machinery and operational teams to be ready at risk locations for immediate response and assistance.

The public is urged to closely follow weather forecasts and official information, especially those in risk areas, and strictly adhere to warnings. They should also inspect their homes and buildings to ensure structural stability, avoid staying in open areas under large trees, billboards, or unstable structures to prevent injury from falling objects, and be cautious of lightning. Farmers are advised to provide supports or shelters for trees and crops to prevent agricultural damage.

Finally, the public can follow disaster alerts via the “THAI DISASTER ALERT” application. If affected by a disaster, they can report incidents and request help through the LINE service “DDPM Incident Report 1784” by adding the LINE ID @1784DDPM, as well as the 1784 safety hotline, which operates 24 hours a day for coordination and assistance.
