On 23 Feb 2026, reporters reported that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation warned 60 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central region, and Bangkok to monitor thunderstorms and strong gusty winds between 23–25 Feb. Officials are assigned to closely track weather conditions and disaster situations, with rapid response teams and equipment prepared in vulnerable areas to handle incidents and assist victims. The public is advised to follow weather forecasts and strictly comply with warnings.

The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC) has been monitoring weather conditions and assessing risk factors, in line with the Meteorological Department’s announcement regarding summer storms in upper Thailand. (Effective during 23–25 February 2026) Announcement No. 1 (1/2569) states that a high-pressure system or cold air mass from the People’s Republic of China is moving to cover the Northeast and the South China Sea, causing southerly and southeasterly winds over the Northeast, Central, East regions, and the Gulf of Thailand, along with westward wind waves passing through the North and Northeast.

Meanwhile, upper Thailand is experiencing hot to very hot weather, causing summer storms in some areas of the North, Northeast, Central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity. These storms will bring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, heavy rain in some areas, and possible lightning. The areas to monitor for thunderstorms and strong winds during 23–25 February 2026 include:

  • Every province in the North.
  • Every province in the Northeast.
  • Every province in the Central region except Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
  • Bangkok.

The public is urged to closely follow weather forecasts and official information, especially those in risk areas, to strictly follow warnings. They should also check that homes and buildings are sturdy, avoid open areas under large trees, billboards, or unstable structures to prevent injury from falling objects, and be cautious of lightning. Farmers are advised to support trees or build shelters to protect crops from damage.

People can follow alerts through the “THAI DISASTER ALERT” application. If affected by disasters, they can report incidents or request help via the Line account “DDPM Incident Report 1784” by adding Line ID @1784DDPM, or call the 24-hour emergency hotline 1784 for assistance coordination.
