Meteorological Department Issues 5th Thunderstorm Warning, Lists Provinces to Prepare for Heavy Rain

The Meteorological Department has issued the 5th thunderstorm warning, listing provinces to prepare for thunderstorms and strong gusty winds during 25 Feb 2026.

On 24 Feb 2026, the Meteorological Department announced the 5th warning about thunderstorms in upper Thailand (effective until 25 Feb 2026). It stated that during 24–25 Feb 2026, upper Thailand will experience thunderstorms, starting with the northeast region. The north, central region, Bangkok including its vicinity, and the east will be affected subsequently.

There will be thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some places, along with possible lightning. This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass moving from China covering the northeast region and the South China Sea. This causes southerly and southeasterly winds over the northeast, central, east regions, and the Gulf of Thailand, combined with a westerly wind wave passing over the north and northeast, while upper Thailand experiences hot weather.

Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of dangers from the thunderstorms by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect agricultural products and livestock from possible damage, as well as take care of their health during this changing weather.

The provinces expected to be impacted by thunderstorms and strong gusty winds (moderate risk) are as follows.

On 25 Feb 2026.

Northern Region: Provinces of Tak, Uttaradit, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun.

Northeastern Region: Provinces of Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Nong Khai, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima.

Central Region: Provinces of Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi.

Eastern Region: Provinces of Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
