
The Second Army Region confirmed that Cambodia fired first, with a 40mm grenade landing near the Thamo Chat base, approximately 2 kilometers from Phlan Hin Paed Kon. Thai forces returned fire as a warning to contain the situation. Commanders from both sides held discussions reaffirming the ceasefire agreement.
On the evening of 24 Feb 2026, the Second Army Region issued a statement clarifying a clash near the operational base in the Phlan Hin Paed Kon area, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province. It stated that at 08:50 on 24 February 2026, while personnel at the Thamo Chat post were on duty in an area under Thai control, a single 40mm grenade was fired from the lower area, landing near the edge of a cliff close to the base. This location is about 2 kilometers northeast along the cliff face from Phlan Hin Paed Kon.
After the incident, Thai forces fired warning shots toward the lower cliff area to suppress and control the situation immediately, following standard military procedures.
Once the situation calmed, commanders from both sides coordinated to verify the facts and emphasized to troops in the area the importance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement. Currently, no further retaliation has occurred. Thai personnel are safe, and no property damage has been reported.
