Summary of the " Border Patrol Police 21 Ammunition Depot Explosion" The Commander of Military Circle 25 suspects the cause may be "hot weather." The EOD team is preparing to inspect the site today after the fire was fully controlled to defuse explosives and secure the area.
Update: At 19:30 on 24 February 2026, a fire broke out at the ammunition depot inside the Border Patrol Police Company 21 (Surin Phakdi Camp) in Surin province, causing extensive damage to the ammunition storage. The initial cause is believed to be heat accumulation inside the depot.
The depot, which is the first ammunition storage site, experienced periodic explosions. One person was injured—a Border Patrol Police officer—who was taken to Veerawattayothin Camp Hospital for treatment. His condition is now stable.

The province deployed 10 fire trucks to monitor surrounding communities and stationed 6 additional fire trucks at the incident site to maintain vigilance through the night. A drone was used to inspect the ammunition depot area, and fire trucks continuously sprayed water to control heat around the site. However, detailed inspection of the damage could not be conducted overnight due to the risk of further explosions and insufficient lighting.
