Spectacular Display of Thousands of Butterflies at Lam Chae Dam During Summer Welcoming Tourists

Thousands of stunning "butterflies" have flown out from the vast forest area of Thap Lan National Park to display themselves during the summer season, now ready to welcome tourists at Lam Chae Dam in Khon Buri District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

On 27 Feb 2026, reporters reported that at the start of this summer season, at Kaeng Kangwon near Ton Chaeng Tunnel Waterfall—where water from Thap Lan National Park flows into Lam Chae Dam, one of the four main dams in Nakhon Ratchasima—located in Ban Map Krad, Khok Krachai Subdistrict, Khon Buri District, a significant natural tourist spot in the province, visitors can enjoy swimming and cooling off amid beautiful nature. Recently, thousands of butterflies have flown out from the vast forest to showcase themselves, continuously welcoming tourists throughout the day.

Normally, at this spot, butterflies from Thap Lan National Park gather annually during the summer for tourists to see, from mid-March through June. However, this year, due to an earlier-than-usual heat wave, about 20% of the butterflies have already begun gathering to welcome tourists, and their numbers are expected to increase, creating an even more spectacular display as the season progresses.
