First Announcement Warning of Summer Storm in Upper Thailand Impacting 3–6 Mar 2026

The Meteorological Department issued its first announcement warning of a "summer storm" in upper Thailand, expected to impact from 3 to 6 March 2026, with several regions preparing for thunderstorms and strong gusty winds.

Dated 28 Feb 2026The Meteorological Departmentannounced the summer storm in upper Thailand (impacting 3–6 March 2026), first notice.

It stated that between 3 and 6 March 2026, a summer storm will develop over upper Thailand, starting in the eastern part of the Northeast region first. The East, Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the North will be affected subsequently.

The storm will feature thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas, along with possible lightning. This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass moving from China covering the Northeast and the South China Sea, while upper Thailand experiences hot weather, combined with a westerly wind wave moving across the North and upper Northeast.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to beware of dangers from the summer storm by avoiding open spaces, large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect agricultural produce and livestock. People should also take care of their health during the changing weather conditions.
