Gold Shop in Buriram Temporarily Halts Sales, Clears Display Cases Amid Middle East Conflict

Temporarily halting sales, a "gold shop in Buriram" has cleared all gold from display cases due to the Middle East conflict, as there is no standard price.

On 1 March 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has caused volatility in many areas, especially gold prices. At a gold shop branch in a shopping mall in Nang Rong District, Buriram Province, the shop was open with staff present as usual, but no gold jewelry was displayed in the glass cases or counters. Price signs for jewelry and gold bars, both selling and buying prices, showed no numerical information.

Upon inquiry, Mr. Chantawat Suanphet, 28, the shop manager, revealed that headquarters instructed them to store all gold in the safe and suspend sales since the afternoon of 28 February until further notice, due to the Middle East conflict causing the absence of a standard price.

However, if customers bring gold to sell, the shop will buy it at a rate of 73,000 baht per baht weight. Customers agreeing to this price will be served. Throughout the day, customers asked why no gold was displayed and inquired about gold bar prices, expressing concern that when the shop reopens Monday, gold prices might reach 100,000 baht.

Nonetheless, although no gold is displayed in the glass cases, police officers have visited the shop to inspect and sign documents as required by regulations.
