This afternoon (2 Mar 2026 GMT+7), the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent the KA-32 helicopter, registration DPM 32-04, on an urgent flight to support wildfire control operations after 28 hotspots were detected this morning in Doi Tao District, Chiang Mai Province.
This mission is part of coordinated aerial operations to prevent and address wildfires, smog, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) across 17 northern provinces. It involves integrated efforts between the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the 3rd Army Region, and Chiang Mai Province.
The helicopter took off from the 7th Infantry Division base in Mae Rim District at 14:00 and began water-dropping firefighting operations in Muet Ka Subdistrict, Doi Tao District at 14:50. Water was sourced from the Doi Tao lake (Tha Bo Rae) area. The firefighting efforts in this area will continue from today until the situation improves.
The aerial support aims to limit wildfire spread, control the situation to prevent impact on local residents, and reduce accumulated smog in the area.
