A man from Sisaket swerved to avoid a car cutting in front of him, causing his vehicle to flip multiple times over a median. The pickup was heavily damaged, but he escaped with only minor scrapes.
At 13:30 on 4 Mar 2026 GMT+7, police from Sikhio Phum Police Station, Sikhio Phum District, Surin province, received a report from a good Samaritan about a pickup truck crossing a median on Highway 226 between Sikhio Phum and Sisaket, near kilometer marker 3 at Ban Jalong Anan, Yang Subdistrict, Sikhio Phum District, Surin. Officers promptly went to investigate.
The scene is a four-lane road with a median. They found a black Isuzu D-Max pickup truck registered in Nakhon Ratchasima with a crushed front and a destroyed radiator, the entire vehicle badly damaged. The driver, Mr. Kanya, 30, from Sisaket province, was standing by the roadside making insurance calls and contacting relatives for a ride, since the truck was undrivable.
Mr. Kanya, the driver, said he works as a technician at Sompoi Intersection in Sisaket. That day, a customer in Surin province requested vehicle repairs, so he traveled from Sisaket to Surin. While driving near kilometer 3, an unknown pickup truck cut in front of him. To avoid collision, he swerved but lost control, hitting the roadside median and causing his truck to roll over several times before stopping near a local house. He escaped with only minor scrapes on his body.
The reporter learned that the driver was carrying a Buddhist amulet. Mr. Kanya explained, “I have had Luang Pu Toh’s amulet, which my father gave me long ago, and I always carry it with me.” He suggested that the amulet’s protective power might have saved him from serious injury in this accident, showing the Luang Pu Toh medal hanging together with a protective talisman to the reporter.
After the accident, local residents expressed disbelief that he survived given the severe damage to the overturned vehicle. Many thought the driver wouldn’t survive, causing shock and distress among neighbors in the area.
