The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for a "summer storm" in its 6th bulletin, clearly listing the provinces affected by heavy rainfall.
On 5 March 2026, the Meteorological Department's website announced that a summer storm is affecting upper Thailand until 6 March 2026, in its 6th bulletin. It stated that the upper region of Thailand is experiencing a summer storm characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail in some areas, heavy rainfall in certain locations, and occasional lightning.
This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China covering the northeast and the South China Sea, causing southerly and southeasterly winds to carry moisture from the South China Sea over the northeast, east, and upper Gulf of Thailand. Meanwhile, upper Thailand remains hot, combined with a westerly wind wave from Myanmar moving to cover the upper north region.
Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of the summer storm hazards by avoiding open spaces, standing under large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from potential damage, as well as take care of their health during this changing weather period.
However, the public is urged to follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information anytime at the Meteorological Department website http://www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
