
Police have ordered the seizure of the vehicle involved to investigate the cause after an empty fuel tank exploded in Chonburi, fatally injuring a worker who was passing by.
An empty fuel tank of about 50,000 liters located at the rear of a truck exploded with a loud bang, causing the blast wave to fatally injure a worker walking nearby. The incident occurred in a truck parking lot in Village 1, Nong Kham Subdistrict, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province at 20:00 on 4 March 2026. The latest update on 5 March 2026: reporters revisited the scene and found that last night forensic officers from Provincial Police Region 2, along with medical teams from Laem Chabang Hospital, conducted an initial investigation and collected evidence at the site.
Today, the case investigator ordered tow trucks and cranes to move the truck involved in the explosion to be stored at Nong Kham Police Station, pending detailed forensic examination by Provincial Police Region 2 officials to determine the true cause of the blast.
Meanwhile, police are gathering evidence and interviewing related parties to compile the case file in accordance with legal procedures.
At the incident site, damage from the explosion last night remains visible. Nearby, 200-liter and 1,000-liter fuel tanks were found lined up close to the explosion site. Authorities will investigate whether these are related to the incident.
