Update on the Condition of the Head of Salak Phra Fire Control Station Director-General Confirms Arrest of Shooter

The shooter has been apprehended.The "Head of Salak Phra Fire Control Station"and the assistant head of Erawan National Park were injured; the latest updatereports they are now in stable condition. The Minister of Natural Resources and Environmentis providing full assistance and closely monitoring the cause.

Regarding the case in which a perpetrator, a former suspect, shot the head of the Salak Phra Fire Control Station and caused injuries in Kanchanaburi, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment coordinated with police to pursue the suspect, as previously reported (Shooter injures head of Salak Phra Fire Control Station; Minister of Natural Resources and Environment coordinates police pursuit)

On 5 March 2026, Mr. Attaphon Charoenchansa, Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, revealed that in the incident where officials were shot and injured, Mr. Warun Jansawang, head of the Salak Phra–Erawan Fire Control Station, andthe assistant head of Erawan National Parkin Kanchanaburi province were shot with a firearm near the Pong Pad Bridge, Village No. 1, Pak Khlong Village, Chong Sadao Subdistrict, Mueang Kanchanaburi District. The incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. Rescue personnel from the Kanchan Protection Foundation urgently transported the injured to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital. The latest condition is stable. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.

Suchat Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, has been informed of the incident and immediately ordered relevant agencies to provide close assistance and care for the injured officials. He also coordinated with the hospital to ensure full medical treatment, while continuously monitoring the situation and reporting progress.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment also instructed local agencies to cooperate with police to investigate the cause of the incident and strictly ensure the safety of officials working in the area, especially those involved in fire control and natural resource protection, to prevent recurrence of such incidents, Mr. Attaphon added.

At this stage, the cause of the attack remains unknown. Police are expediting fact-finding investigations. The latest report indicates that the suspect has been apprehended.
