Navy Prepares Mission to Bring Thai Citizens Home from the Middle East

The Navy confirms its readiness for the mission to assist Thai citizens in the Middle East conflict zones, fully supporting government policy in all circumstances.

On 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyanon, Navy spokesperson, stated that due to rising tensions and fighting in the Middle East, which may threaten the safety of Thai citizens there, the Navy is closely monitoring the situation and preparing naval forces to support evacuation and assistance missions according to government policy.

The Navy has planned maritime evacuation operations through ports located in safe zones near conflict areas, facilitating the movement of Thai citizens from various gathering points.

Operational steps depend on coordination between the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Thai embassies abroad. The Navy has prepared a large landing ship capable of transporting approximately 1,000 people, accompanied by escort vessels forming a special task force fleet, with an estimated travel time to the area of about two weeks.

Due to current airspace restrictions limiting air evacuation options, maritime evacuation may be an alternative. Though it takes longer, it can accommodate a large number of people and offers operational flexibility.

The Navy emphasizes that this plan is an initial preparation and can be adjusted according to actual conditions. It stands ready to support government decisions to protect Thai citizens abroad and will act immediately upon receiving orders.
