MEA explained that the signal interference affecting motorcycle remote controls in the Town in Town area may be linked to their electrical network communication system used for power control. They apologized to residents in the area and have temporarily suspended the equipment to identify the exact cause.
On 5 March 2026, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) clarified the incident where residents around Inthaporn Road, Soi 10, Phlabphla Subdistrict, Wang Thonglang District, experienced problems with smart key motorcycles being unable to start due to signal interference.
MEA acknowledged the problem and took it seriously. Initial investigations suggested the issue may be related to MEA's "electrical control network communication system," which is a device that manages electrical current switching via radio waves.
To minimize impact and alleviate residents' inconvenience immediately, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) requested MEA to temporarily disable the device. MEA complied and suspended its use. At the same time, MEA has expedited coordination with contractors to conduct a thorough technical inspection on site.
Currently, NBTC and MEA continue joint on-site investigations to ascertain the precise cause of the interference to enable appropriate corrective actions.
MEA sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused to residents in the affected area.
