Meteorological Department Warns of Summer Storms from 11 to 13 March with Thunderstorms and Strong Winds

The Meteorological Department forecasts that from 11 to 13 March 2026, upper Thailand will experience summer storms featuring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas.

On 8 March 2026, the Meteorological Department's 24-hour forecast indicated that upper Thailand will be hot during the day but may see scattered thunderstorms and strong gusty winds in some areas. This is due to low pressure caused by heat covering upper Thailand, combined with southerly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. While upper Thailand remains hot, residents are advised to be cautious of thunderstorms and strong gusty winds.

In the southern region, thunderstorms are still likely due to easterly and southeasterly winds covering the Gulf of Thailand, the south, and the Andaman Sea. The lower Gulf of Thailand will have waves 1-2 meters high, and in thunderstorm areas, waves exceeding 2 meters. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.

From 11 to 13 March 2026, upper Thailand will experience summer storms characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, heavy rain in some places, and possible lightning strikes. This is because a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China will extend over upper northern Thailand, the northeast, and the South China Sea. This will cause southerly and southeasterly winds to bring moisture over the northeast, central, eastern regions, and the Gulf of Thailand, while upper Thailand remains hot.

Currently, dust particles in the northern and central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, are accumulating at moderate to fairly high levels due to weak to moderate air ventilation.
