
The Governor of Si Sa Ket demonstrated eating sweet corn and drinking corn juice to open the Sweet Corn Festival and Si Ratana's Best Products event in Si Sa Ket Province, held from 4-10 March 2026. The festival aims to promote eco-tourism and create jobs and income for farmers.
On the evening of 7 March 2026, in front of the Si Ratana District Office, Si Ratana District, Si Sa Ket Province, Mr. Anurat Thammaprajamjit, Governor of Si Sa Ket, presided over the opening of the 2026 Sweet Corn Festival and Si Ratana's Best Products event, held from 4-10 March 2026. The event encourages farmers to improve product quality to meet market demands, promotes market-led production, stimulates a full cycle of production and marketing, and supports agricultural product processing to add value. It also aims to publicize and showcase community products to the public, create jobs and increase income potential, and promote eco-tourism and local cultural traditions. At the opening ceremony, the governor distributed sweet corn and corn juice to government officials as a demonstration to confirm how delicious and sweet Si Ratana corn is.
Mr. Suraphol Sriphanomthanakorn, Si Ratana District Chief, stated that Si Ratana District comprises seven subdistricts, 90 villages, and eight local administrative organizations, covering a total area of 144,439 rai, with 130,343 rai dedicated to agriculture and 13,007 rai for other uses. The district is among those with strong production potential for rice, horticulture, and especially sweet corn, which is a key crop contributing over 60 million baht to the total agricultural production value. Sweet corn production supplies markets year-round, generating income, jobs, livelihoods, and reputation for Si Ratana District. Therefore, the district organizes the annual Sweet Corn Festival and Si Ratana's Best Products event.
The event features contests for agricultural products and livestock, booths selling OTOP goods, fruits, sweet corn, and agricultural products, a sweet corn princess contest, country music singing competition, costume contests, a skillful papaya salad (som tam) competition, and traditional dance activities. Before the opening ceremony, a grand parade from seven subdistrict administrative organizations and one municipality—eight groups in total—was held. Each parade was decorated with vegetables and agricultural products, especially tens of thousands of sweet corn cobs, which are the main agricultural product of Si Ratana District.
Additionally, each parade group showcased unique local cultural arts, such as the 'Witch Dance' performance, where musicians creatively used paint cans asdrum sets.The sound closely resembleda real drum set.This added vibrant color tothe experience of onlookers.There were also demonstrations of weaving, grilling sweet corn, making sweet corn desserts distributed to parade spectators, and displays of various local lifestyles.
