The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has notified 48 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central regions, and Bangkok to prepare for thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and hail from 11 to 13 March 2026.
On 10 March 2026 at 11:30 a.m., Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), stated that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC) has been monitoring weather conditions and risk factors. The Meteorological Department issued its first bulletin (No. 15/2569) regarding seasonal storms in upper Thailand affecting the period from 11 to 13 March 2026. It reported that westerly wind currents from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar will move to cover the northern region.
Additionally, a moderate high-pressure system or cold air mass from the People's Republic of China is moving to cover the Northeast, Central regions, and the South China Sea. Meanwhile, upper Thailand experiences hot weather, causing seasonal storms in the North, Northeast, Central regions, as well as Bangkok and its vicinity. These storms will bring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas, along with possible lightning. The areas under close watch for thunderstorms and strong winds during 11-13 March 2026 are divided as follows.
Therefore, the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC), under the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), has coordinated to notify 48 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central regions, and Bangkok, as well as disaster prevention centers in high-risk areas, to remain vigilant and prepare for the situation during this period. They have been instructed to closely monitor the weather and disaster trends, coordinate with local administrative organizations to warn residents in vulnerable areas in advance, and prepare disaster machinery and response teams stationed in risk zones to be ready to respond and assist residents immediately.
Furthermore, residents, especially those in risk areas, are urged to closely follow weather forecasts and official information, strictly comply with warnings, inspect their homes and structures to ensure stability and strength, avoid open areas, staying under large trees, billboards, or unstable structures to prevent injury from collapses, and be cautious of lightning. Farmers are advised to provide supports or shelters to protect their crops from damage.
Finally, residents can follow disaster alert announcements via the “THAI DISASTER ALERT” application. If affected by disasters, they can report incidents and request assistance through the LINE service “DDPM Emergency Reporting 1784” by adding the friend Line ID @1784DDPM, as well as the 24-hour emergency hotline 1784 for coordination of help.
