Bueng Kan Limits Fuel Purchases to 1,500 Baht per Vehicle Amid Shortage Fears Independent Stations Raise Prices by 1 Baht

Fuel stations in Bueng Kan province have started limiting refills to 1,500 baht per vehicle due to concerns over insufficient fuel supply, while independent stations have increased prices by 1 baht.

On 10 Mar 2026 at 10:00, the Ministry of Commerce, through the Bueng Kan Provincial Commerce Office led by Mr. Booncherd Endoo, joined with the Bueng Kan Provincial Energy Office led by Mr. Trairat Kosasang, the Provincial Damrongtham Center, the Bueng Kan Provincial Administration Office, and the Public Relations Office to inspect prices and product sales to prevent opportunistic price hikes and hoarding. They also supervised consumer goods and energy prices in Mueang Bueng Kan district, inspecting four fuel stations. The inspection found that large fuel stations were still selling at normal prices with sufficient supply.

Yong Charoen Service Bueng Kan, a Shell-affiliated station and the only one of its kind in Bueng Kan, is limiting fuel sales to customers to no more than 1,500 baht each because only 4,500 liters of diesel remain in stock. This measure aims to distribute fuel fairly to all customers. Gasoline 91 has 3,700 liters left, and Gasoline 95 has 2,965 liters, which is expected to last until the government’s price freeze deadline.

The independent fuel station, Ch.Puechphon, which buys fuel from major distributors outside the area, has adjusted its prices based on costs. The operator provided data showing diesel is purchased from large fuel stations in Udon Thani province at 37.40 baht per liter plus a management fee of 1.10 baht per liter, and Gasohol 95 at 37.50 baht per liter plus a 0.90 baht management fee. This results in higher prices than standard brands.

The operator displayed pump prices of diesel at 38.50 baht per liter, an increase of 4.76 baht per liter (previously 33.74 baht), Gasohol 95 at 38.40 baht per liter, up 5.11 baht (previously 33.29 baht), Gasohol 91 stable at 32.79 baht per liter, and gasoline 95 at 45.05 baht.

A farmer growing off-season rice appealed to the government, saying if fuel prices rise, rice prices should also increase to maintain balance, allowing farmers to at least cover production costs. "When fuel is expensive, we want rice to be expensive too," he said.

Mr. Booncherd Endoo, Bueng Kan’s Provincial Commerce Officer, urged the public not to panic and reassured that fuel supplies are sufficient. He emphasized that operators must clearly display prices matching the fuel pumps, must not refuse sales, and must not hoard products. If hoarding, overpricing, or refusal to sell is found, people can report it via the Department of Internal Trade hotline 1569, Bueng Kan Commerce Office at 042-492528, the Provincial Damrongtham Center hotline 1569, or any district office.
