Nakhon Ratchasima Governor Orders Urgent Control of Peacock Hill Forest Fire in Pak Chong District After Over 500 Rai Burned

The governor of Nakhon Ratchasima ordered the mobilization of all available forces to urgently control the "Peacock Hill" forest fire in Pak Chong District after a forest fire burned over 500 rai, coordinating firefighting teams and helicopters to support operations on the high cliff areas.

On 10 March 2026, Anupong Suksamanit, governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, urgently instructed relevant agencies to mobilize forces to contain the forest fire at Peacock Hill, Phaya Yen Subdistrict, Pak Chong District. The fire spread rapidly due to dry conditions and strong winds. The fire affected areas around Peacock Hill, Moo 3 Ban Nong Yang and Moo 10 Ban Phrom Prakat, Phaya Yen Subdistrict, with approximately 500 rai of forest damaged.

Meanwhile, Kritsanathorn Lertsamrong, the Pak Chong district chief, took command on the front lines as per the governor's directive. He coordinated with the Khao Yai National Park forest fire control unit, Forest Protection Unit No. 1 (Pak Chong), Sima Mongkhon Subdistrict Municipality, Phaya Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and the forest fire response team to suppress the fire. Currently, officials have controlled parts of the fire (at the rear area of Peacock Hill), but two risky spots remain on steep cliffs with strong winds, making ground access difficult.

However, Governor Anupong Suksamanit emphasized prioritizing the safety of personnel and has coordinated to request support from firefighting aircraft from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to urgently conduct water drops in inaccessible areas.
