PSL Clarifies Issue of Mayuree Naree Vessel Attacked Twice While Passing Hormuz Strait

"Precious Shipping Public Company Limited" clarifies the issue concerning the Thai-flagged vessel "Mayuree Naree" was attacked twice while passing through the Hormuz Strait, and is urgently coordinating the rescue of the three missing crew members.


Regarding the case of the "Thai cargo ship" owned by Precious Shipping, the owner of the vessel 5a MAYUREE NAREE (IMO9323649, Call sign HSGM), flying the Thai flag, which was traveling from the UAE heading to Kandla, India, in the Arabian Sea after passing through the Hormuz Strait about 50 nautical miles from Dubai, was struck by unidentified weapons fired by unknown parties. Most recently, on 11 March 2026, Precious Shipping Public Company Limited (PLC) reported to the Stock Exchange of Thailand regarding the Thai-flagged vessel, namely Mayuree Naree, which is owned by Precious Flowers Company Limited, a subsidiary of the company in Thailand. At approximately 08:15 local time on 11 March 2026, while passing through the Hormuz Strait, Mayuree Naree was attacked twice by unidentified weapons. The attacks caused damage to the ship’s engine room and resulted in a fire.

Prior to navigating through the Hormuz Strait, Mayuree Naree had implemented very strict security measures and maintained communication with the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center and other relevant maritime security coordination centers. The vessel regularly reported its situation in accordance with relevant advisory notices. The ship was ordered to comply with the latest advisories issued by UKMTO and other related maritime security agencies.

The company has received reports that three crew members are missing, believed to be trapped inside the ship’s engine room. The company is coordinating with relevant authorities to carry out rescue operations for these three missing crew members.

The remaining 20 crew members were safely evacuated and have now disembarked in Oman. The company is coordinating with relevant authorities to repatriate these crew members to Thailand as soon as possible.

- Mayuree Naree is covered under a War Risk Insurance policy as per the insurance agreement. Therefore, the company does not anticipate any significant financial impact from this incident.
