Yasothon Faces Fuel Crisis: Diesel Limited to 300 Baht per Vehicle, Impacting Garbage Trucks, Ambulances, and Fire Engines

The fuel situation in Yasothon province is critical, with a limit allowing vehicles to refuel no more than 300 baht each. This has impacted garbage trucks, ambulances, and fire engines.

On 17 March 2026, reporters noted that many people have been refueling their vehicles heavily lately, causing fuel stocks at various stations in Yasothon province to run low, especially diesel. As a result, fuel stations have limited refueling to no more than 300 baht per vehicle and stopped refilling tanks or containers for other uses.

This fuel shortage has affected Yasothon city’s garbage trucks because 300 baht worth of fuel is insufficient for daily routes. Normally, garbage trucks cover at least 20 kilometers per day, but with 300 baht of fuel, they can only travel up to 10 kilometers. Therefore, the city municipality had to adjust waste collection to every other day. On the first day, the truck travels about 10 kilometers then returns, leaving some waste to be collected the following day to conserve fuel for each trip.

Additionally, this situation has impacted emergency rescue and fire trucks, which are currently refraining from assisting or supporting neighboring local administrative organizations due to limited fuel supplies.

Mr. Natthaphon Naksuk, Mayor of Yasothon city, stated that after the fuel stations serving the municipality limited refueling to 300 baht per session, it directly affected the garbage trucks, emergency rescue, and fire engines. Garbage trucks must cover four daily routes within their responsibility area and travel no less than 20 kilometers per day. However, with only 300 baht worth of fuel, each truck can run only about 10 kilometers.

Consequently, the municipality had to revise daily garbage collection plans, allowing trucks to travel only about 10 kilometers before returning. Even if some waste remains along the route, collection must pause until the next day to ensure fuel sufficiency for the entire route. This may result in some accumulated garbage, and the municipality asks local residents for understanding.

Regarding emergency rescue and fire trucks, during this period, if neighboring local administrative organizations request assistance or support, they must decline due to the limited fuel supply.
