The National Water Resources Office has issued a warning for "high tides" in seven provinces during 21–23 March 2026
On 17 March 2026, FacebookThe National Water Resources Officeposted a statement saying that the National Water Resources Office has issued a warning for high tides during 21–23 March 2026.
1. The influence of high tides, combined with southeast winds covering the Andaman Sea, southern region, and Gulf of Thailand, is causing heavy rain in some areas and stronger waves. This will raise sea levels, causing river levels to rise and possibly flood low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya, Mae Klong, and Tha Chin rivers from 21 to 23 March 2026. It may also affect communities outside permanent flood barriers and areas without flood protection, as well as major roads including Sukhumvit Road, Suksawat Road, and Rama II Road.
2. There is a need to monitor saltwater intrusion impacting the quality of water used for consumption and agriculture. Therefore, relevant agencies are urged to closely watch for high tides in Samut Prakan, Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Songkhram provinces.
