Passing of Phra Kru Thippayapimon, Abbot of San Tai Temple, Renowned Northern Monk at Age 79

Phra Kru Thippayapimon (Inpan Wisuttho), abbot of San Tai Temple in San Kamphaeng Subdistrict, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai, a renowned monk considered one of the top eight in northern Thailand, passed away peacefully at age 79 after 46 years as a monk.

At 00:19 on the night of 18 March 2026, Mr. Sunthorn Kampheng, village headman of Ban San Tai, Village No. 9, San Kamphaeng Subdistrict, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai, revealed that the monks, novices, devotees of San Tai Temple from every household, and all disciples had brought the body of Phra Kru Thippayapimon, who passed away peacefully (Inpan Wisuttho), abbot of San Tai Temple, age 79, 46 years in monkhood, from Nakornping Hospital in Chiang Mai to San Tai Temple for funeral rites.

Additionally, the devotees of San Tai Temple and all disciples will inform Phra Kru Wimon Yanprayut (Boonchu Panyapachoto), the district chief monk of San Kamphaeng and abbot of Rong Wua Daeng Temple in Rong Wua Daeng Subdistrict, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai, as well as Mr. Kanet Kamnon, district chief of San Kamphaeng. A water-pouring funeral ceremony will be held, attended by monks from across San Kamphaeng District and devotees from all directions. This will be followed by chanting funeral rites and a royal cremation ceremony according to procedure. The ceremonies will be extensive.

Regarding the brief biography of Phra Kru Thippayapimon, he was ordained from a young age and was a monk dedicated to developing San Tai Temple. He completed construction of all major Buddhist structures within the temple and was recognized as one of the top eight revered monks in northern Thailand. He created several series of amulets for his disciples to venerate, with proceeds used to develop San Tai Temple. Upon his peaceful passing due to old age and chronic illness, devotees deeply mourned the loss of their venerable teacher.
