Extreme Heat Causes Athlete to Fall into Coma from Heatstroke CPR Performed to Save Life at Thai Local Government Day Event

A 40-year-old athlete suffered heatstroke during a competition, lost consciousness, and entered a coma. Emergency responders performed CPR to save his life at the Thai Local Government Day event.

On 18 March 2026 GMT+7, at the Provincial Administrative Organization football field in Maerim Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, during a special football match for the “2nd Thai Local Government Day Sports Event” between provincial government teams and municipal teams, including a highlight match between the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) team and the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) team, the PAO team performed excellently, defeating the SAO team 7-0.

However, amid the intense competition and extreme heat, an unexpected incident occurred when an approximately 40-year-old athlete from the provincial government team suffered severe heatstroke, lost consciousness, and slipped into a coma, causing great alarm among teammates and spectators.

Emergency responders and related personnel quickly moved the athlete off the field for urgent first aid, performing CPR to revive his vital signs at the scene before urgently coordinating his transfer to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for further medical treatment.
