Trang Cant Hold Back: Egg Prices Rise by 5-15 Baht per Tray, Vendors Urge Government to Address Cost of Living Issues

Trang—Egg prices at the Trang Municipality Market have risen by 5-15 baht per tray. Vendors attribute the increase to several factors, particularly fuel price issues and hot weather causing hens to produce fewer eggs. They appeal to the government to help control prices to avoid impacting the cost of living.

On 18 March 2026, reporters visited the fresh market at Trang Municipality. Surveying egg stalls, they found prices increased by about 5-25 baht per tray across all sizes. Size 0 eggs sold at 144 baht per tray, size 1 at 130 baht, size 2 at 125 baht, size 3 at 120 baht, and size 4 at 110 baht per tray.

Mr. Rahat, 74, the owner of an egg stall, said that egg farms have informed him of rising egg prices due to fuel costs and hot weather reducing hen productivity. Customers complain about rising prices of many products but feel compelled to buy. He said the future price movements are uncertain due to various factors, but egg shortages are unlikely.

He urged the government to assist in stabilizing fresh egg prices during this period so that it does not become a financial burden on the public, along with other essential household goods.
