Singburi Task Force Raids Gas Station Selling Diesel at 41 Baht per Liter High Costs Found, Ordered to Investigate Source

A Singburi provincial task force raided the Tha Chang gas station selling diesel at 41 baht per liter. They confirmed the station's high purchase costs and ordered an urgent investigation into the supply source to prevent price exploitation.

On 18 March 2026 at 12:30 p.m., Waraditsorn Onnuch, Governor of Singburi Province, urgently instructed Sahachai Jamprasitsakul, Deputy Governor of Singburi, Methinee Nicharat, Head of Singburi Provincial Office, and Ugrit Khantiwong, Singburi Provincial Energy Officer, to lead a special task force to verify complaints from the public that a gas station in Tha Chang district was selling diesel at the unusually high price of 41 baht per liter, clearly above the market rate.

During the joint field inspection with the Provincial Commerce Office, Energy Office, Damrongtham Center, local administration, and police officers, preliminary checks on pricing confirmed diesel was sold at 41 baht per liter. The station presented evidence showing they purchased diesel at a high cost of 40.50 baht per liter.

The initial conclusion was that the gas station's profit margin was only 0.50 baht per liter, so it did not qualify as excessive profiteering. The operator explained that they had to buy diesel at a high price to ensure local residents continued to have fuel available.

Deputy Governor Sahachai Jamprasitsakul ordered officials to extend the investigation upstream by collecting all purchase documents to examine the oil depots or wholesale sources, to determine why wholesale prices were abnormally high. If any unjustified price gouging is found, strict legal action will be taken against those involved.

Complaint channels: If anyone notices stockpiling or unfair pricing, they can report it via the Department of Internal Trade hotline at 1569 or the Damrongtham Center at 1567, available 24 hours.
