Tragic Collision of Motorized Boats in Bang Chang Canal Leaves One Dead

A collision between motorized boats shook Bang Chang Canal in Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom. The driver was struck and thrown into the water, going missing. After a two-hour search, the body was found.

At 11:40 a.m. on 18 March 2026, the Phranpitak Rescue Foundation in Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom, received a report of a motorboat collision in Bang Chang Tai Canal behind Bang Chang Tai Temple, Village No. 2, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Sam Phran District. They dispatched teams and divers to assist.

The scene was a canal about 15 meters wide and 5-6 meters deep. Villagers were gathered watching the incident. In the canal, a motorized boat, an "E-Pab" boat, was floating near the bank. It was reported that one person was missing in the water: Mr. Den, also known as Chang Den Takocheen, 44. Rescue workers deployed divers to search for the missing person. After about two hours, the body was found. Preliminary autopsy showed injuries from impact to the front of the torso. The body was handed to the foundation for further examination at Sam Phran Hospital.

Mr. Poo, the driver of the other boat involved, said he was about to head out toward the Tha Chin River when the deceased’s boat came in from the river. At the canal’s curve near a dredging boat parked on the bank, the two boats collided. The bow of his boat struck the deceased, causing him to fall into the water and disappear. He shouted for villagers to help search but they could not find him.

Initially, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanont Yangnok, Deputy Chief Investigator of Sam Phran Police Station, arrived at the scene to document evidence, photograph, and question the other boat’s driver and witnesses. Legal proceedings will follow.
