A shrimp transport truck overturned beside the road, and locals rushed in to seize nearly all the shrimp, causing over 300,000 baht in damage. The owner tried to stop them but was ignored and could only record video as evidence to prepare for a police complaint.
A Facebook user posted a plea for help to a well-known Lampang page, stating that at 22:54 on 16 Mar 2026, a friend's truck had an accident and overturned in Thoen District, Lampang. While waiting for insurance assistance, locals took the goods without permission. Despite requests and insurance intervention, no one listened. The user said this behavior was inhumane and that they could only record video evidence to take further action.
The post also expressed frustration, saying, "Why are people so heartless? My friend was injured with a head and lip wound, the truck was damaged, and he almost lost his job, yet this happened. They took all the goods shamelessly," accompanied by video footage showing locals collecting the shrimp.
In the latest update on 18 Mar 2026, the reporter contacted the original poster, who revealed that on the accident date, the 40-year-old driver was transporting over 120 boxes of white shrimp, each box weighing 10 kg and valued at more than 300,000 baht. The shrimp were loaded in a refrigerated pickup truck coming from Rayong Province, heading to Lamphun Province. The truck lost control near kilometer 640 on the Phahonyothin Road Tak-Thoen route, between Thoen and Sop Prap districts. The driver suffered head and lip wounds, abrasions, and bruises, and bystanders helped him.
While waiting for insurance arrangements, locals asked about the driver's condition, but within minutes they began collecting the white shrimp from the truck. The owner, friends, and insurance representatives tried to stop and plead with them, but no one listened. They took all the shrimp, so the owner recorded videos as evidence.
Locals left only 4 boxes of shrimp behind; more than 120 boxes were taken, with total damages over 300,000 baht. Insurance covers only 200,000 baht, leaving the owner responsible for the remainder. The owner is preparing all evidence to file a complaint with the Thoen Police Station, Lampang, to take legal action against those involved.
The owner admitted feeling shocked and distressed by the incident, saying he never expected that instead of help, people would steal the goods right before his eyes. Despite his efforts to stop them, no one listened, which led him to post about the incident on social media.
