The village headman, together with officials from the national park, inspected a cow carcass in the forest of Huai Nam Un Village, Chiang Mai Province. They found bite marks on the neck, the front legs were missing, and the body had been partially eaten. It is suspected that a tiger was responsible.
At 5:30 p.m. on 18 March 2026, Mr. Watcharin Pojanabandit, the village headman of Ban Mueang Ang, Village No. 9, Ban Luang Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai, revealed an update on the case of a cow from Huai Nam Un Village that was killed by bites. It is believed to have been caused by a tiger in the forest east of the village, about 2-3 kilometers from a previous incident where three cows were killed and tiger footprints were found southward in the forest of Ban Mueang Ang.
Upon inspection with officials from Doi Inthanon National Park, the Huai Nam Un forest area, a tropical forest overlapping Santi Suk Subdistrict, Doi Lo District, and Ban Luang Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, was found to be steep terrain. Blood drag marks extended about 5-6 meters. The cow carcass emitted a foul odor, indicating it had been dead for at least two days. There were bite marks on the neck with the skin torn, both front legs missing, and the body partially eaten, leaving only the rib cage.
No footprints or other signs were found because the area was covered with large rocks and dense leaf litter, making it unclear which animal attacked the cow. Nevertheless, officials from Doi Inthanon National Park will continue to monitor the situation.
