Oil Crisis Severely Hits Seafood Operators in Samaesan Blue Crab Prices Soar to 850 Baht per Kilogram

A survey of seafood prices at "Samaesan Channel" in Chonburi Province reveals that following the oil price crisis, blue crab prices have surged to 850 baht per kilogram, impacting both operators and consumers.

On 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters visited Samaesan Channel in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, to monitor the effects of continuously rising oil prices. They found that local seafood operators are facing sharply increased costs.

Ms. Chatchanok Wattanachontawat, owner of Chonphat Seafood Restaurant in Samaesan, disclosed that seafood prices have risen almost across the board, especially large-sized blue crabs, which have reached as high as 850 baht per kilogram, affecting both operators and consumers.

Additionally, local gas stations have stopped providing fuel in containers, directly impacting fishing boats and speedboats, which are unable to operate as usual. This has led to a reduced seafood supply, further driving prices higher.

Local operators are appealing to the government to promptly find solutions to ease the hardship and prevent further economic damage in the area.
