Most recently, at 4:00 p.m. on 19 March 2026 GMT+7, in the main hall of San Tai Temple in Ban San Tai, Village No. 9, San Kamphaeng Subdistrict, San Kamphaeng District, Phra Khru Wimonyanprayut (Boonchu Pannyapachoto), head monk of San Kamphaeng District and abbot of Rong Wua Daeng Temple, led monks from 77 temples across 10 subdistricts of San Kamphaeng to participate in the royal water-pouring funeral ceremony for Phra Khru Thipayapimon (Inpan Wisuttho), former abbot of San Tai Temple, aged 79 with 46 years as a monk, accompanied by Mr. Kanes Khamnon, district chief of San Kamphaeng.
Mr. Chakree Khattrat, mayor of San Kamphaeng Subdistrict and local leader, led local government officials from all 10 subdistricts, along with village headmen from 10 subdistricts covering 100 villages in San Kamphaeng District, and devotees who had learned of the news, to attend the water-pouring ceremony for the revered monk’s body in large numbers from all directions inside the main hall of San Tai Temple, expressing deep sorrow. Many disciples shed tears as they mourned the passing of this famous Lanna monk who will never return.
Mr. Sunthorn Khampheng, village headman of Ban San Tai and a close disciple, said that in the past, former Police Chief General Tosak Sukwimol, while in office, was among many disciples who came to pay respects and seek blessings from the revered monk for good fortune. There have been numerous devotees from all directions.
The atmosphere of the event was solemn and mournful. Every night, devotees and disciples hold chanting ceremonies. On 26 March 2026 GMT+7, the closing ceremony for the monk’s body in the glass coffin inside the temple’s main hall will take place, followed by the 100-day merit-making ceremony.
