An orchard owner laments that the price of the "Month Nine Sweet Mango" has dropped drastically to as low as 2 baht per kilogram, while the "Nam Dok Mai" mango is priced between 3-5 baht per kilogram.
On 20 Mar 2026, reporters visited a mango orchard in Village 5, Lak Kaeo Subdistrict, Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province. Ms. Areerat Phuengcharoen, owner of orchards growing Month Nine Sweet Mango and Nam Dok Mai mangoes, was seen collecting fallen mangoes beneath the trees to process into mango jam for sale, following a severe price drop. She was uncertain about the cause of the price decline.
Ms. Areerat, the orchard owner, revealed that currently, the Month Nine Sweet Mango prices have fallen to as low as 2 baht per kilogram. Growers have to sell to middlemen. At her orchard, she lets the mangoes ripen and fall naturally before collecting them for processing into three-flavor mango jam, which she sells wholesale at 80 baht per kilogram. Meanwhile, Nam Dok Mai mangoes are priced at 3-5 baht per kilogram.
She appealed to the government to assist in stabilizing orchard gate prices, noting that the current price collapse is unsustainable. She urged consumers to support by purchasing processed mango jam from orchard owners to help alleviate their financial burdens amid rising costs of fertilizers, pesticides, and fuel.
