Escaping for safety, a noodle shop owner grabbed a cash box and fled as a severe seasonal storm struck, tearing off the roof and causing damage exceeding 100,000 baht.
At 15:30 on 20 March 2026, reporters reported that a seasonal storm battered several areas in Sisaket province, especially the city district, resulting in heavy rain, strong gusts, and flooding in many locations, severely affecting residents.
On the Sisaket–Ubon Ratchathani road near the U-turn market, heavy rainfall accumulated beyond drainage capacity, causing flooding. Small vehicles struggled to pass, many had to slow down, and some risked engine stalls, leading to severe traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, the storm caused damage to local restaurants, notably a noodle shop at the entrance to the Sisaket Provincial Housing Project in Pho subdistrict, Mueang district. Strong winds violently ripped off the shop's roof, allowing rain to pour inside and damaging many items. Additionally, a large nearby tree was uprooted by the wind, falling onto the shop and causing further damage. A nearby pickup truck was also damaged.
The shop owner said that before the incident, the wind had been blowing intermittently before intensifying alongside heavy rain. Initially, they intended to close the shop, but with two customers still dining, they decided to monitor the situation until the storm violently lifted the roof off suddenly.
Seeing the danger, the owner quickly grabbed the cash box and ran from the shop to find shelter, while the two customers fled in different directions amid the chaos. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
After the storm subsided, the owner returned to inspect the damage and found that the roof, tables, chairs, kitchen equipment, and ingredients were severely damaged by rain. Initial estimates put losses at no less than 100,000 baht.
Authorities plan to survey the damage on site to provide assistance to affected residents according to regulations.
