Family Mourns, Prepares Funeral Rites for Sergeant Job, Victim of Truck Breaking Through Checkpoint

In deep sorrow, the family is preparing funeral rites. "Sergeant Job" Sergeant Chaiwat Kongudom died in the line of duty while pursuing a truck that broke through a checkpoint.

Following the incident, the Pathum Thani Provincial Police expressed their deepest condolences for the passing of Sergeant Chaiwat Kongudom, patrol unit leader at Thanyaburi Police Station, who died while chasing and attempting to apprehend a truck that broke through a checkpoint, as previously reported.(In memory of Sergeant Chaiwat Kongudom, who died in the line of duty pursuing a truck that breached a checkpoint)

On 21 March 2026, reporters visited the home of the young policeman who died while devotedly performing his duties until the last moment. At his house in Kho village, Buakhao Subdistrict, Kuchinarai District, Kalasin Province, family and relatives were seen working together to prepare the venue and collect flowers for the ceremonial offerings on the royal cremation day.

Meanwhile, Amnuay, a relative of Sergeant Job, revealed that before the incident, his sister-in-law dreamed of losing a tooth. The Royal Thai Police announced that the body would soon be sent home for funeral rites, as the royal bathing ceremony honoring him had already been conducted at his police unit. The family is now preparing to receive the body for the home funeral ceremony.

Arunee, a relative on Sergeant Job's parents' side, expressed pride in her nephew’s dedication to duty until his final moment but also deep sorrow. Sergeant Job had recently ordained in honor of his late mother last year and just held a birthday celebration at work on 17 March 2026. He had told the family he would visit home in three to four days but passed away before that. Earlier, his sister-in-law had a dream about losing a tooth and performed a ritual to avert bad luck, but they never expected such a tragedy.

If we could speak to Sergeant Job, we would say everyone loves him and is proud of his service because it was work he loved. We tell him not to worry about the family; what happened cannot be undone. All we can do now is make merit and dedicate it to him for his commitment until the very last moment.
