Mae Sot administrative officials, together with Mae Sot Police Station officers and military personnel, seized a 20,000-liter diesel fuel truck suspected of preparing to send fuel to Myanmar opposite the Grand Complex.
At 18:30 on 22 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters learned that Mr. Kantpong Pipatmontri-kul, Chief District Officer of Mae Sot, ordered Mr. Attawut Chancharoen, Mae Sot district defense official, along with members of the Mae Sot Volunteer Defense Unit Company 3, to cooperate with Ratchamanu Infantry Company 1411, Mae Sot Police Station officers, Region 6 police, Mae Sot customs officials, village headmen, and security volunteers from Village No. 3, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. They had received intelligence on a suspicious vehicle believed to be preparing to send diesel fuel across to Myanmar.
They promptly moved to a natural crossing point directly opposite the Grand Complex in Myawaddy, Myanmar, located by the Moei River on the Thai side at Ban Tha At, Village No. 3, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province.
Upon arrival at the crossing, they found a flammable materials truck registered in Saraburi parked on the Thai side with a clear view of the Myanmar side opposite. The officers identified themselves and requested to inspect, discovering 20,000 liters of diesel fuel.
Additionally, fuel tank equipment was found in a warehouse nearby, including two 4,500-liter tanks containing 300 liters of fuel, 101 tanks of 200 liters each, and 85 tanks of 30 liters each, most of which were empty, apparently prepared for future filling at the natural crossing warehouse.
The team seized the 10-wheel fuel truck carrying 20,000 liters of diesel fuel along with 188 fuel containers as evidence. The Mae Sot district administration is taking measures to prevent fuel hoarding and illegal fuel transportation across to neighboring countries.
The officers seized the fuel truck and fuel evidence, documented the arrest, and handed over the case to Police Lieutenant Boonlert Tipsributr, investigating officer at Mae Sot Police Station, for further legal action.
