Pork Prices Rise by 10 Baht per Kilogram Fresh Chicken Prices Increase by 13 Baht per Kilogram

A survey of prices at Chiang Mai fresh markets found pork prices have increased by 10 baht per kilogram, while fresh chicken prices have gone up by 13 baht per kilogram, following the rise in oil prices. Customers have begun to complain but understand the oil price situation.

On 23 March 2026 in Chiang Mai province, reporters found that pork prices at the Muang Mai wholesale market in downtown Chiang Mai rose from 89 baht per kilogram at the farm gate to 99 baht per kilogram, an increase of 10 baht per kilogram. Consequently, pork stalls at Muang Mai Market raised prices for all pork cuts from 170 baht to 180 baht per kilogram due to higher costs.

Meanwhile, fresh chicken shops adjacent to the pork stalls increased their prices from 75 baht to 88 baht per kilogram, a rise of 13 baht per kilogram. Customers buying food ingredients and restaurants have started to complain about the higher prices. However, everyone understands that the increase follows higher oil prices affecting transportation costs, and customers continue to shop as usual.

In addition, lime prices have also risen. Ten key limes now cost 40 baht, while larger limes are priced at 50 baht for ten. Resellers add a markup of 5 to 6 baht per lime, causing many other products to prepare for price increases following the rise in oil costs.
