Lopburi Governor Tests Ban Mi Tourism Route to Develop One Day Trip and Boost Community Income

The governor of Lopburi Province is actively testing an agricultural and cultural tourism route. "Ban Mi" Plans are underway to develop it into a One Day Trip aimed at stimulating the grassroots economy and generating income for local communities.

On 24 March 2026, Mr. Weeraphong Ritrod, governor of Lopburi Province, led senior officials and related agencies to Ban Mi district to monitor progress and test the agricultural tourism route. They also planned an integrated connection of cultural and community lifestyle attractions. During this visit, they toured four key tourist spots, including:

First spot: Wat Huai Kaew, where they paid respects to Luang Pho Prong, the former abbot, and viewed the "Maha Metta Ratana Rangsi Chedi," a hexagonal chedi on water that perfectly blends Khmer, Thai, and Lao artistic styles, along with a natural waterfall surrounded by trees.

Second spot: Kanjana Orchid Garden, a large orchid cultivation area of over 130 rai, featuring beautiful and rare varieties, open for tourists to visit.

Third spot: Wat Khung Tha Lao, featuring large gates shaped like Hanuman and Maiyarap characters reflecting the unique Ramakien epic, with visits to Bang Kham floating market and boat rides to experience riverside lifestyles.

Fourth spot: Ban Maha Son agricultural tourism community (Ban Suan Kwan), where the group toured by 'E-taen' tractor within the community, learning about farmers' lifestyles, viewing a traditional Thai house over 100 years old, selecting agricultural processed products, local foods, and tasting the local dessert "Dok Sano Saw Nam" paired with Klu leaf tea.

Mr. Weeraphong revealed that this visit was to assess potential to connect these tourist spots into a single route, both as a One Day Trip and for overnight stays. The focus is on collaboration between government and community, as today’s tourists seek not just photos but meaningful experiences and value. Each of the four spots offers unique charms and can be developed into a capable tourism route.

He also emphasized that Lopburi Province supports communities to showcase their own identities to preserve local uniqueness. The government will assist in product standards, service, marketing, and awareness creation, as well as promote train travel as a key selling point for Ban Mi district.

Moreover, developing this route is part of the province’s strategy to elevate Lopburi as a sustainable agricultural and cultural tourism destination, aiming to distribute income widely among all community groups, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and local residents.
