Uthai Thani Gas Stations Quiet on Early Morning Despite 6 Baht per Liter Price Hike

In Uthai Thani city, gas stations were quiet early in the morning. A gas station attendant said fuel delivery is expected in the afternoon. A local resident said she had mentally prepared for the 6 baht per liter price increase but must still refuel regardless.

At 06:00 on 26 March 2026 GMT+7. A reporter described the quiet morning atmosphere at the PTT Por Tawee gas station on Route 333, Mueang district, Uthai Thani province, located opposite the city entrance. Fuel delivery trucks had not yet arrived, and the price boards showed a 6 baht per liter increase for all fuel types. This followed a decision by the Fuel Fund Management Committee (FFMC) to reduce compensation rates for diesel and gasoline prices, resulting in retail fuel prices rising by 6 baht per liter. The increase is due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, causing oil prices to climb steadily. For example, gasoline rose from 43.64 baht to 49.64 baht per liter, Gasohol 95 from 35.05 baht to 41.05 baht, and Gasohol 91 from 34.68 baht to 40.68 baht.

However, in the morning, signs posted at the station entrance indicated that gasoline was sold out, and similar notices were attached to the Gasohol 95 pumps.

When asked, a staff member said fuel deliveries are expected around 1 p.m., explaining the quiet morning as no fuel was available for customers except Gasohol 91. Vehicles arriving to refuel had to leave due to the shortage.

A woman who came by motorcycle to refuel said she had already accepted the price increase, knowing it was inevitable because the government cannot control it. She added that fuel is essential—without it, vehicles cannot operate. Although prices rose in the morning, residents from the city and nearby provinces who usually refuel had to wait in line in the afternoon until after the fuel deliveries arrived to get service.
