Chong Jom Customs Continues Strict Control, Inspects Oil Transport in Lower Northeastern Region to Prevent Illegal Exports

"Chong Jom Customs" has joined forces with "Surin Excise" to intensify inspections of oil transport in the lower northeastern provinces. No abnormalities were found involving route deviations or short deliveries. The public is urged to remain confident as continuous surveillance orders are in place.

On 26 March 2026, Mr. Prasit Deejongjaroen, Chief of Chong Jom Customs, revealed that due to the severe oil crisis, Mr. Panthong Loykulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department, Ms. Suntaree Twichaprasit, Deputy Director-General, and Ms. Lalita Atthapimon, Director of Customs Region 2, have ordered Chong Jom Customs—responsible for three lower northeastern provinces: Surin, Buriram, and Korat, which share a border with Cambodia and serve as a main route to the upper northeast bordering Laos—to increase vigilance and fully prevent illegal oil exports.

Mr. Prasit continued that following these directives, Chong Jom Customs has integrated efforts with Ms. Natthiya Meesungnoen of Surin Excise, deploying patrol units with vehicles to monitor, pressure, and deter within their jurisdiction along National Highway 24, both northbound to the upper northeast and southbound to the lower northeast, as well as at various gas stations.

Checks with transport drivers confirmed that their routes remain normal. For northbound routes to the upper northeast, inspections of documents and seals revealed no irregularities or route deviations. Southbound inspections showed that vehicles delivered the full authorized quantities of oil.

Random inspections at gas stations marked as "in transit"—due to heavy public use—found actual oil volumes consistent with the reserve tank levels recorded in the system.

"I want to clearly confirm that I have ordered strict enforcement and close monitoring of oil matters to fully reassure the public. Additionally, I emphasize cracking down on undesirable products that could harm society, following government policy. Throughout March, we have seized cases involving illegal cosmetics without registration, unauthorized imported goods without standards certification, copyright infringements, among others, with total damages exceeding 10 million baht," Mr. Prasit concluded.
