Khlong Saen Saep Boat Fares Hiked by 2 Baht Amid Surging Diesel Prices Further Increases Possible

Krobkrua Transport Company announced a 2-baht fare increase across the entire Khlong Saen Saep boat route (new rates 13-23 baht) effective 30 Mar 2026, after struggling to bear costs from diesel prices surging to nearly 39 baht per liter. The company will monitor the situation on 6 Apr and may raise fares again if prices remain high, assuring immediate reductions if diesel prices fall.

On 26 March 2026, Chaowalit Methayaprapas, Managing Director of Krobkrua Transport (2002) Co., Ltd., owner of the Khlong Saen Saep boats, reported that due to the sharp rise in fuel prices on that day—especially B7 diesel reaching 38.94 baht per liter, a 6-baht increase per liter—operating costs for the Khlong Saen Saep route between Wat Sriboonruang and Phan Fa Lilat Bridge were directly affected. Therefore, Krobkrua Transport announced a fare adjustment from 11-21 baht to 13-23 baht according to distance, to sustain the business amid the current energy cost crisis.

This fare increase will take effect from Monday, 30 March 2026, with a 2-baht rise per distance segment, based on diesel price brackets of 33.01–35.00 baht per liter. Although diesel prices have already exceeded nearly 39 baht per liter, this decision serves as an initial relief for passengers before reassessing the situation again.
.
The operator added that this 2-baht increase may not be final, since the diesel price on 26 March was 38.94 baht—higher than the current adjustment threshold. The company will review the situation and real costs by 6 April 2026 to decide whether further fare increases are necessary to align with diesel prices above 35 baht per liter. According to the fare adjustment table, if diesel prices move into the 35.01–37.00 baht range or higher, fares would increase by another 1 baht per distance segment accordingly.
.
Chaowalit said, “When fuel costs rise, fares must follow. We have operated for 40 years and never seen diesel prices jump this sharply. We expect this to be temporary.” Krobkrua Transport confirmed that the fare increase follows energy price mechanisms and pledged to reduce fares proportionally if diesel prices decrease to reflect lower costs.
