Some People in Phitsanulok Accept the 6 Baht Increase in Fuel Prices, Adapt to Overcome the Crisis

Fuel prices have increased by 6 baht per liter for all types. Some residents of Phitsanulok believe they must accept this reality, adjust, and get through the crisis by carefully planning their travel and expenses.

On 26 March 2026 in Phitsanulok Province, reporters reported that following the announcement of a 6 baht per liter price hike for all fuel types, a survey of gas stations across Mueang Phitsanulok District found that some stations ran out of fuel as early as last night, especially diesel. This was because after people learned about the price increase, many rushed to fill their tanks between around 11:00 p.m. last night and 2:00 a.m. today.

At the PTT station at Ruan Pae in Mueang Phitsanulok, diesel fuel ran out. This station normally receives daily deliveries; yesterday, 8,000 liters arrived but were quickly sold out. Similarly, the Shell station on Mittraphap Road also ran out of diesel. Meanwhile, two Bangchak stations at Khok Chang and a PT station at Khok Chang still had diesel available. The atmosphere at these stations was normal, with customers filling up but queues were not very long.

At the Bangchak station on Boromtrilokkanat Road, also known as Bangchak Talad Tai in the Phitsanulok Municipality area, many vehicles came to fill diesel since early morning. The station opened at 4:00 a.m. and did not limit the amount of fuel per customer. It was observed that most drivers filled their vehicle tanks and also carried extra fuel in various-sized containers in the vehicle trunks, as they needed to travel long distances.

Mr. Chinawat Singha, who works in the legal department at a university, stated that despite the 6 baht per liter fuel price increase and the likelihood of further hikes, he views this as a normal situation that people must adapt to. He plans his travel carefully due to the ongoing war situation. He adds that he will gradually refuel to keep his tank at least half full since he drives to work daily, and he intends to budget more carefully.

A resident of Phitsanulok who must travel to Chiang Mai said managing fuel is very challenging. Despite the price increase, diesel supply remains insufficient. Today, he refueled his tank fully and also filled a 30-liter container as a reserve because he is unsure if diesel will be available along the route to Chiang Mai.

Reporters asked several delivery drivers, who revealed they are heavily affected by the rising diesel prices, as their delivery fees must be reduced due to higher fuel costs. They also carry reserve fuel containers on their vehicles and always keep their main tanks full, along with the reserves, because they are uncertain whether diesel will be available at service stations along their delivery routes.
