Ferry to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan Announces Fare Hike Following Diesel Price Surge

The ferry service to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan has announced a fare increase after diesel prices surged by 6 baht per liter, inevitably affecting local travelers and tourists. Check the latest fares to see how much general passengers now pay.

On 27 March 2026, Seatrans Ferry Company, which operates passenger transport from Don Sak Pier to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan districts in Surat Thani province, informed customers of a fare increase. This is the second fare adjustment this month due to diesel prices rising by 6 baht per liter.

The company has raised fares for all vehicle types. The new rates apply to the Don Sak–Koh Samui route, round trip. Fares for the longer Don Sak–Koh Phangan route have also increased proportionally to the distance. The new fares take effect from 27 March 2026 onward. This fare hike inevitably impacts passengers and those transporting vehicles, who must pay higher travel costs.

Mr. Kriangkrai, a pickup truck owner who transports goods daily from a market in Surat Thani city district to customers in Koh Samui on a same-day return schedule, said the 6 baht per liter diesel price hike combined with the ferry fare increase from 580 baht to 670 baht raises his transportation costs significantly. As a freight service provider, he may need to raise delivery prices accordingly, which will affect his customers as well. He views the fuel price increase as causing a chain reaction of impacts. Additionally, fuel shortages require him to drive around looking for gas stations. He hopes relevant authorities understand the difficulties faced by professionals affected by rising fuel prices.
