
Tragically, the body of a Thai worker who died in Israel has returned to Thailand, with efforts underway to provide compensation and support to the deceased's family.
At 13:30 on 27 March 2026, Mr. Pichet Thongphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, along with Mr. Bancha Yuenyongjongjaroen, Deputy Director-General of the Consular Department, Mr. Sakdinat Sonthisak Yothin, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, and Mrs. Dvora Dorsman Yarkoni, Deputy Head of the Israeli Embassy in Thailand, participated in a ceremony to receive and pay respects to the body of Mr. Chaiwat Waewnil, a Thai worker who died in the Middle East conflict on 18 March, at Suvarnabhumi Airport before the remains were sent for religious rites in Chaiyaphum Province.
The deceased Thai worker, Mr. Chaiwat Waewnil, aged 33, was from Chaiyaphum Province. He had traveled to work in agriculture in Israel and died in a bombing incident on 18 March. His body was returned to Thailand on flight LY093, arriving at 12:45.
Mr. Pichet stated that regarding benefits and compensation, the deceased's heirs will receive support both from abroad and within Thailand, including the following:

The Ministry of Labour has ordered local agencies, especially the Chaiyaphum Provincial Labour Office, to provide close assistance to the deceased's family, including facilitation of documentation, access to benefits, and coordination with relevant parties.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Labour continues to closely monitor the situation of Thai workers in the Middle East. So far, 1,479 Thais have requested evacuation assistance, and 98 workers have already returned to Thailand.
Mr. Pichet expressed condolences to the deceased's family and affirmed that the Ministry of Labour will expedite processing so the heirs receive legal benefits as soon as possible. He also urged Thai workers still in risky areas to strictly follow official guidance for their safety.
