Nationwide Lights Out on 28 March 2026 Invites Thai People to Turn Off Lights for 1 Hour to Combat Global Warming

Thai people are invited to "turn off lights for 1 hour" to reduce global warming during the 60+ Earth Hour 2026 event from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

On 28 March 2026, the public and all sectors are invited to symbolically show their commitment and reduce unnecessary energy use to help mitigate global warming and be part of building a sustainable world. The 60+ Earth Hour 2026 event encourages turning off unnecessary lights, unplugging unused electrical appliances, and reducing all forms of energy consumption for one hour, simultaneously with millions of people across 190 countries and 7,000 cities worldwide on Saturday, 28 March 2026, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

For 2026, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), together with partner networks, continues to campaign for the "turn off lights for 1 hour" activity to reduce global warming. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, 28 March 2026, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, requesting cooperation from government agencies, private sectors, businesses, shops, the public, and all media outlets to reduce energy use and turn off unnecessary lighting such as decorative lights, building lights on skyscrapers, advertising signs, household lights, as well as unplugging unused electrical devices and reducing air conditioner use in homes for one hour.

Additionally, BMA requests cooperation for symbolic light-outs this year at three main locations: 1. Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan in Bangkok Yai district; 2. Sao Chingcha and Wat Suthat Thepphawararam Ratchawaramahawihan in Phra Nakhon district; and 3. Golden Mount (Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan) in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district. Furthermore, all 50 district offices, in collaboration with partner networks and building or site owners in their areas, will jointly participate in symbolic light-outs of buildings, homes, and nearby streets.

However, the public is encouraged to join the "Turn Off Lights for 1 Hour to Combat Global Warming" event on Saturday, 28 March 2026. We have an appointment to switch off unused lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, together with 7,000 cities in 190 countries worldwide. Besides saving electricity bills at home, this also helps the nation conserve energy, reduce budgets, and protect the environment and the planet simultaneously.
