Five Thais Caught Illegally Crossing Border to Collect Unpaid Wages of 25,000 Baht, Admit Working at Poipet Casino Gambling Website

Sa Kaeo – Eastern Force soldiers arrested five Thais who had illegally crossed the natural border route to retrieve unpaid wages of 25,000 baht. They admitted to having worked for an online gambling website at the Poipet casino in Cambodia.

On 29 March 2026, reporters learned that Eastern Force soldiers from the Aranyaprathet task force continue to strictly monitor illegal crossings along the Thai-Cambodian border. They recently arrested five Thais attempting to cross illegally to reclaim wages owed by their employer.

Eastern Force, through the Aranyaprathet Task Force (Company 1204), deployed personnel to patrol and prevent illegal activities along natural routes in sugarcane fields between checkpoints Jor Tor Or 60 and Jor Tor Or 61 at Ban Phan Suek, Zone 1, Village 3, Phan Suek Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, approximately 250 meters from the border line.

While on duty, officers spotted a suspicious group and approached them for inspection. They found five Thais—four men and one woman—illegally attempting to cross the border on foot. All were detained on the spot.

Initial questioning revealed the detainees had previously worked for an online gambling website inside the Galaxy Casino in Poipet, Cambodia, but had resigned and returned to Thailand. However, their employer still owed them a final payment of 25,000 baht, prompting them to risk illegal crossing to recover the money. They traveled without paying for transport and had no guides at the time of arrest.

After the arrest, authorities took all detainees to the 1204 Company base for interrogation and documentation according to procedures before handing them over to the Khlong Nam Sai Police Station for background checks and legal prosecution.
